Blue Sky Outdoor Living FAQs Part III

If you’re a first-time Blue Sky smokeless fire pit owner, you might have some questions. In that case, you’ve come to the right place!

We’ll walk you through some burning questions you may have, so you can enjoy your smokeless fire pit safely. Let’s get started.

Can I use this fire pit to cook food?

One of the best things to do while a fire is blazing is to roast or cook some of your favorite treats. However, you want to ensure you’re using food-grade pellets to use whiling cooking in your Blue Sky fire pit.

But before you get cooking, let the fire burn down, as our fire pits generate high heat.

I am noticing rust on my fire pit. What should I do?

As our fire pits are constructed of steel, they are susceptible to rust when they are exposed to outdoor conditions and fire. Our smokeless fire pits generate big heat that can exceed 1200 degrees F (650 degrees C). The fire pits are painted with high temperature heat resistant paint; however, there are no commercial paints that meet these extremes.

Over time, the fire pits will start to show signs of rust, but it will not impact the performance of the fire pit. By using high-temperature paint, you can touch up your pit. This paint can be found at most hardwood stores.

Can I use my smokeless fire pit indoors?

The short answer: no. Our fire pits are to be used outdoors only. The fire pits should also not be used under a patio roof, low hanging branches, a trellis, patio umbrellas, arbors pergolas or any overhangs, including covered porches.

If burned in enclosed areas, it can produce carbon monoxide from the burning wood, which has no odor and can cause death.

How far away from a structure should I put my fire pit?

Your fire pit should be a minimum of 10’ (3.1m) from buildings, structures, flammable items and vehicles, such as cars, trucks, vans, boats or RVs.

Will my fire pit leave a black mark on a paver or driveway?

Yes, there is a possibility that the smokeless fire pits, especially our larger patio ones, could leave burn marks on whatever surface it is placed on. That is why we recommend using pavers when setting up your fire pit.
